Agriculture Program
The Agricultural Program for Manchay, Peru contains 4 different components and it is set to begin in the summer, 2010.
- The Community Garden program will address food security issues by encouraging the residents to begin community gardens to grow potatoes, sweet potatoes, peppers, strawberries and other organic products.
- The Tree Planting program will bring biodiversity into the community, as well as serve as a commercial initiative of selling the trees.
- The Composting Commercial (and Recycle) program will recycle waste by composting it and selling it as fertilizer
- The Agriculture Starter Kit for Children will give children the opportunity to start their own gardens and learn about agriculture and food marketing from an early age.
